Drillbit Taylor

(Before I review this, I’m going to tell you the goal I’ve set for myself for 2008. I vowed to go see a movie in theaters at least once a month. I came close last year, but didn’t get it done.)

Drillbit Taylor poster. The last day of March, I saw the movie Drillbit Taylor. It has been a while since I have laughed at this much stuff in a movie. This stars Owen Wilson as a homeless veteran who gets hired as a bodyguard to three high school nerds(Emmit. Ryan, and Wade). Let me just say, these kids really needed a bodyguard because the bully is meaner than Hitler. So, Drillbit trains them in the art of fighting then starts posing as a substitute teacher to keep a closer eye on them. During their adventures, things go wrong for both the boys and Drillbit. In the end, there is one of the funniest fight scences I’ve ever seen. This movie is really funny, but it would get slow then pick back up with a hilarious scene(and I have to agree with earl, the hiring a bodyguard scene was the funniest in the whole movie). Overall, I’m glad I decided to see this movie because I laughed more during it than the month of March. 4 1/2 of 5 Stars

Here’s the thing: I thought it was funny, had a few really funny jokes here and there, but it felt to me like it was just too long. It overstayed its welcome. I may buy it on DVD if it has good extras. However, I’ll probably rent it.
