The Dark Knight

No wonder Heath Ledger got nightmares. After seeing The Dark Knight, I think I may get them too. This was a great movie. It also beat the record and has the highest-grossing opening weekend of all-time. This movie is the sixth in the Batman series, and also the best. This movie follows Batman as he fights one of the coolest supervillains I’ve ever seen, Joker. While the Joker is reking some serious havoc in Gotham, Batman also has to put up with Harvey Dent, a DA who has has a thing with Batman’s longtime friend. Things get even worse as the Joker’s reign of terror continues ruining the lifes of Batman, Harvey, and everyone else in Gotham. This movie was packed with action and had a great cast, including the last preformance of the late Heath Ledger as the Joker. The only thing I didn’t like about this movie is that it left a lot of things unanswered that needed to be answered nad that it was a little too long. Other than that, I loved this movie. I suggest that everybody who reads this should go see The Dark Knight. 4 1/2 of 5 Stars

Hancock

Hancock poster.Well,  he’s no Spider-Man, but he’s good enough. That’s what I was thinking while watching the movie Hancock. This movie starred Will Smith as Hancock, a superhero who hates people and is hated by people. When Hancock saves the life of a Public Relations manager, he befriends the drunken superhero to his wife’s dismay. The PR manager then decides to help Hancock by helping his image to be loved and to be a great hero. It includes sending Hancock to jail, a tight suit, angry prisoners, high crime rates, and a dude’s head going up another dude’s butt. Hancock then becomes a better hero until a surprising twist changes the whole movie. I love Will Smith and was hoping this movie would be as good as his others, and it was. This movie had great action scenes, a great cast, and lots and lots of hilarious laughs. The only thing that I didn’t like about this movie was that it was only 90 minutes when I thought it could have been a good bit longer. This movie was really good and I hoping to get the DVD and hoping for a Hancock sequel. I recommend this movie for every Will Smith and superhero fan. 4 1/2 of 5 Stars

A Trip To Blockbuster

The other day, my family took a trip to blockbuster. We haven’t rented movies in over a year and I was excited. Here are my reviews on the movies we rented.

The Bucket List- My mom rented this. Everyone who saw it told me it was great and I couldn’t wait to see it. And when I did, I loved it too. It was about two old men who have less than a year to live doing all the crazy things they never got to do before they kick the bucket. This movie was really good and was one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. 4 1/2 of 5 Stars

Be Kind Rewind- I rented this one. I have been wanting to see this movie since I saw the previews and I finally got to watch it. This is about two men who, after all the videos in their store are erased, set out who make their their own versions of the movies, which turn out to be great. This movie was good but I expected more laughs from it. But overal, I liked it. 4 of 5 Stars

Juno- My sister got this one. This movie was praised by critics and I was surprised I actually sat down to watch it. This movie was about a sixteen year old girl who gets pregnant and is going through the pains of pregnancy. This movie was alright and actually had a lot of laughs. 4 of 5 Stars

You Don’t Mess With the Zohan

You Don't Mess With the Zohan poster.I wish I could kick people in the face with my feet. That’s what I was thinking after I saw You Don’t Mess With the Zohan. This movie stars the always funny Adam Sandler as the Zohan, a middle-eastern commando who decides he is tired of all the fighting. So, he fakes his death and moves to New York City to satrt a new life as a hairstylist. That’s right, a hairstylist. So while in New York he gets a job at a small salon. He suddenly becomes the most popular hairstylist in the city under his new name, Scrappy Coco. His life is going good until a former enemy finds him. Then, he has to put up a company who wants to tear down the block where his salon is located. This movie was very funny and lives up to some os Sandler’s greatest. Although, a lot of it’s jokes were sexual related and dirty. I recommend this movie to anyone who needs to laugh because they will do a lot of it. 4 of 5 Stars

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull poster.Today, the wait was over. I got to go see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. This was the one movie I had to see this summer and I was hoping that it lived up to the first three. It did. This movie took place at the end of the 1950s. It was about the famous Indiana Jones(duh) and his quest for the Crystal Skull(another duh). This time, he’s not fighting the Nazis but the Russians. He is joined by a new sidekick, Mutt Wiliams, his former lover Marion Williams(Raiders), and friends Mac and Ox. While they are also fighting the Russians over the Skull, they are also thrying to take it back to its rightful place. This movie was jam-packed with action as well as a good bit of humor here and there. This movie is better than Raiders of the Lost Ark and a whole lot better than Temple of Doom. But it did have some really weird moments in it, so I think it should be called the second best and the best being Last Crusade. But, do I recommend it? Yes, I think if you like the first three you will think the same about this one. I will definitly buy this when it comes out on DVD. I think everyone should go see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. 4 1/2 of 5 Stars

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Prince Caspian poster.Today, I saw the movie The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. It is the second movie in the Chronicles of Narnia series. This movie stars all five main characterts from the first film(Peter, Susan, Edmond, Lucy, and Aslan) as well as the new character, Prince Caspian. One year after the children climbed out the wardrobe, they are summoned back to the Narnia by Prince Caspian. They arrive to find out that it has been 1300 years in  Narnian time since they left and it has been taken over by humans. Caspian is being chased by the humans to kill them so Caspian’s uncle can become Narnia’s king. So Caspian and the children build an army and hope that they can fight for Caspian’s right to the throne. This movie was very good. It had plenty of action and matched the quality of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. I can’t wait till this comes out on DVD or until the third movie. I think if you liked the first movie, you’ll love this one. 4 1/2 of 5 Stars

Iron Man

Iron Man poster. After perfect ratings from everyone I talked to, I saw the superhero movie Iron Man. I expected this movie to be good after what everyone else said, and when I saw it, I agreed. This movie followed Tony Stark, a great weapons designer, getting caught in captivity being forced to make terrorists a high powered bomb. Instead, he creates a suit that is equipped with plenty of weapons. Once back in America, he decides to put his weapon designing on hold to create a better suit so he can stop overseas terrorists. In the end, he decides to become the superhero, Iron Man. This movie had plenty of action and comedy(which I like) thoughout the movie. It also had a surprise ending which I think everyone enjoys. I liked this movie and I even stayed through what seems like 30 minutes of credits to see 20 seconds of Samuel L. Jackson. This movie was really good and I recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it yet. 4 1/2 of 5 Stars

Leatherheads

Leatherheads poster.Yesterday, I saw the football movie, Leatherheads. This movie starred the one and only George Clooney. This is about a pro football team(back when pro football was new and ruleless) struggling to get by and trying not lose their funding. So, they recruit a college football star, who has a investigative reporter out to destroy his rep on his tail, to play for their team. They become a great team. During this time, both players become rivals. But, when the star tells the reporter his big secret everything goes downhill for him and the team. So, George decides to get him back by getting him kicked out of football. This movie had some boring moments but also a lot of funny moments. This is a great movie for die hard football fans. 3 1/2 of 5 Stars
