Walt Disney World- Disney Hollywood Studios & Animal Kingdom

I know it has been a long time since I did a post about theme parks, so I’m starting back up. This is the intro post for the remaining two Walt Disney World parks: Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. First will be the Hollywood Studios and then Animal Kingdom. In fact, Studios is my favorite theme park at Disney World and my second favorite of all the parks I’ve been to. Just in case you forgot, I will go through each of the lands of the theme parks and write reviews for the attractions there. Disney Hollywood Studios is made a an actual movie studio with rides based off of movies and TV shows, like the Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror. Animal Kingdom is like a gigantic zoo and features plenty of animal-based attractions, such as Expedition Everest. I will also list past attractions, as well as restuarants and places to shop. These two parks contain some great rides and are both great Disney World parks.

Epcot- Future World

Here is the second part of Epcot. This area is called Future World and is a series of rides and shows based on just about everything. Unlike the World Showcase, this place has rides which I get to review as well as other things such as restaurants and shopping. I will format this one like I did with all the others in the past.

Attractions

Spaceship Earth- This ride is located in the icon of the park, the gigantic sphere. You board a vehicle which takes you through history and through the huge sphere. Many different moments from history are displayed such as Prehistoric Times, Eygptian Temples, Renaissance Italy, Islamic Empire, Industrial Revolution, Age of Invention, and then it takes you to the future. This ride is pretty tame and lets you see the world as it was throughout time. It is also boring and I think this is one that you should skip unless you are just dying to ride it. 2 1/2 of 5 Stars

Ellen’s Energy Adventure- This attraction is a show which turns into a huge ride. You enter an auditorium where you see Ellen DeGeneres having a nightmare about losing on Jeopardy because she knows nothing about energy. But luckily for her, her neighbor, Bill Nye the Science Guy, takes her on a trip to teach her about energy. He talks about the Big Bang Theory and then the wall opens up you enter into a primeval diorama where Bil shows you how a lot of enery was fist created. You then move back into another auditorium where Bill explains energy sources and the many ways we use energy. Then you travel back into the main room where Ellen wins on Jeopardy. This attraction is fun and really funny. You should ride this if you have time and if you love Ellen and Bill Nye. 3 1/2 of 5 Stars

Mission: SPACE- This is the best attraction in the whole park. You are about to go on a space voyage which is going to take you to Mars. The leader of the voyage lets you in on the details of the trip and tells you about the dangers and mysteries of space. The four people in each ride vehicle are assigned a part, they are navigator, pilot, commander, or engineer. The rocket ships opens up and you get in as you wait to head into space. The rocket starts up and you feel amazing G-force as you ride into space. The force settles when you enter space and the control center puts you into hyper sleep. You wake up to see Mars and very horribly land on it. The mission is a success and you are brought back to earth. This ride is very cool and one of the best at Disney World. There is no excuse to not ride this because it is great and I highly recommend it. 5 of 5 Stars

Test Track- Here is another great ride in the park. On this attraction, you act as crash test dummies for the testing of a new car. You board the cars and start up a hill for an acceleration test and then you drive over different road surfaces. The anti-lock braking system is turned off and you fail a course until it is turned back on and the ride continues. Next, you go through hot and cold areas to test how the car would react in different climates. This is followed by the handling test which involves you going up and down hills, around sharp curves, and almost crashing into a semi-truck. The speed test is next and has you zooming out of the building and around a track going about 65 mph. You pass the test and get off the ride. Just like Mission SPACE, this ride is great and should be ridden. It has definitly got my recommendation. 5 of 5 Stars

The Seas With Nemo and Friends- Here’s an attraction that I have not yet experienced. It involves you journeying through the Seas with Marlin and Dory as they search for Nemo. You encounter jellyfish, anglerfish, Bruce the shark, Crush the awesome turtle, and more until you finally find Nemo. Also with this ride is a place where kids can talk and interact with Crush. I have yet to ride this attraction so I can neither recommend it or shoot it down. If you want to ride it, I say go ahead and ride. No Rating Available

Honey, I Shrunk the Audience- Oh man. Here’s an attraction that I just can’t stand. It is a 3-D show based on the movie Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. You are about to see a science demonstration by Wayne Szalinski. When Wayne’s son takes over, things go awry. Mice are let loose in the auditorium and you are attacked by a lion and a snake. Wayne then shrinks the audience where toddler Adam is fascinated by the “little people”. Their dog almost gets a hold of you right before Wayne brings you back to regular size. Unfortunatly, the dog is turned into a giant and sneezes on you as the show ends. This attraction is not that great and looses it appeal after the first time, plus I just don’t care for it. I say you can skip this show and go ride something better. 2 of 5 Stars

Soarin’- Now this ride is one that I like. As you wait to get on the ride, you get to play fun interactive games. You are going on a hang gliding adventure over the state of California. You board a huge simulator that will take you on your voyage. The simulator takes you up to a huge screen where you see the different sights, sounds, and even smells of California. The vehicle moves all over the place and takes you to spots such as orange fields, mountians, large plains, beaches, and finishes at, of course, Disneyland. The hang glider lands in the park and the simulator takes you back to the main room where you get off the ride. This attraction is really fun and is a great way to spend time. I think you should take the time and ride this great attraction. 4 1/2 of 5 Stars

Epcot: World Showcase

I have taken time off from my theme park reviews and now I’m starting up again with Disney World’s Epcot. This park is only divided into two areas, so each one will have a post. World Showcase is a bunch of pavillions showing different countries of the world and most don’t have attractions. So I will list rides, restuarants, and shopping with a paragraph for each country.

Mexico- The ride is The Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros. You go along with two of the cabelleros as they are on the hunt for Donald Duck. Restaurants are the San Angel Inn, Mexico Margarita Stand, and the Cantina de San Angel. Shopping includes The Plaza de Los Amigos and El Ranchito de Norte. 3 1/2 of 5 Stars

Norway- The attraction here is the Maelstrom. It takes you through norway on a ship that encounters everything from Vikings to evil trolls. The restaurant is the Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe. Shopping is The Puffin’s Roost. 3 1/2 of 5 Stars

China- This land features the show Wonders of China. It is a film that shows off the nature, people, and beauty of the China nation. Restaurants are Joy of Tea, The Lotus Blossum Cafe, and Nine Dragons Restaurant. Shopping includes the Yong Feng Shangdian Shop and Beijing Cloisonne Ware. 2 1/2 of 5 Stars

Germany- There is no attraction here. Restaurants include the Beirgarten and Sommerfest. Shopping has The Sussigkeiten and Der Teddy Bar. 2 1/2 of 5 Stars

Italy- There is no attraction here. Restaurants are Pasticceria Italiana: Alfredo di Roma and Tutto Italia Ristorante. Shopping is Il Bel Cristallo. 2 of 5 Stars

United States- The show here is The American Adventure. It is a live show which features many historical moments from early American history. Restaurants includes America’s Funnel Cake Stand, Liberty Inn, and the Turkey Leg Cart. Shopping is the Heritage Manor Gifts. 4 1/2 of 5 Stars

Japan- No attraction here either again. Restaurants are the Kaki-Gori Shaved Ice Stand, Teppan Edo, and Tokyo Dining. Shopping is the Mitsukoshi Department Store. 2 1/2 of 5 Stars

Morocco- Yet again, no attraction here. Restaurants include Morocco Coffee and Pastries and Tangerine Cafe. Shopping is Tangier Traders, Brass Bazaar, and Souk-Al-Magreb. 2 of 5 Stars

France- The ride here is Impressions de France. It is a video that is showing off what there is in the country of France. Restaurants are Bistro de Paris, Boulangerie Patisserie, and Chefs de France. Shopping includes La Maison du Vin and Souvenirs de France. 3 of 5 Stars

United Kingdom- You guessed it, no attraction here. Restaurants include the Rose and Crown Pub and Yorkshire County Fish Shop. Shopping is The Toy Soldier, The Crown and Crest, and the Queen’s Table. 2 1/2 of 5 Stars

Canada- The attraction here is the film O Canada. It showcases all the wonder and excitement of the Canada nation. Restaurants are the Canada Popcorn Wagon, Le Cellier Steakhouse, and McDonalds. Shopping is the Northwest Mercantile Store and the Trading Post. 3 1/2 of 5 Stars

Illuminations- This is not a country pavillion, but a huge fireworks show that takes place in the lagoon surrounded by the countries. It features lights, laser, explosions, special effects, and of course, fireworks. It also has the Earth sphere, a huge globe that shows a film about the world. This show is pretty amazing and definity worth your time to see it. 4 1/2 of 5 Stars

Magic Kingdom- Tomorrowland

Here is the sixth and last land in Magic Kingdom, Tomorrowland.

Attractions

Astro Orbitor- This ride is one that isn’t a must-do, but is really fun. This ride is just like Dumbo, you board a vehicle and spin around and around. Except there is one catch, you’re over 100-feet above the ground. You can go out over the edge of the building, and you have a great view of the park. The itself isn’t that fun, but being so high up gives it thrill. I suggest you ride this just so you can get a great view of the great park. 3 1/2 of 5 Stars

Tomorrowland Speedway- If you want to act like a driver on a super-speedway, this will disappoint you. You get in a small car and drive around the speedway only going about 10 miles-per-hour. It is hard to drive, and there is a bar under your car that knocks you back and forth. The ride is boring and doesn’t deserve to be ridden. If you want speed, do not ride this attraction. 1 of 5 Stars

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin- This is a ride that is never the same. You enter space and are recruited by Buzz Lightyear to help him stop Zurg. The vehicles you board are armed with guns and you start off on to save the galaxy. Vehicles go through different planets and you are shooting at Zurg targets along the way. The little green aliens help you go along while trying to find Zurg. You end up in a face-to-face battle with Zurg, and you blast him out of power and he is captured by Buzz. Buzz then thanks you for helping him and you get to see your score for your shooting. This attraction is great and gets you competitive with others. I recommend this ride because it is great and you are able to be involved and have fun. 4 1/2 of 5 Stars

Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor- This is an attraction I haven’t got to experience yet, so I’ll tell you what I read about it. You enter Monsters Inc., where they are about to put on a comedy show. You enter the auditorium and Mike tells you about the show. Several monster comedians come out and entertain, and sometimes get you involved. Comedy is constant and you’ll laugh greatly at it. I can’t say ride or skip for this, but I heard it was fun so ride it if you like. No Rating Available

Space Mountain- This is my favorite ride in the whole park. In this mountain, you start out on earth about to go on a journey to space. you board a rocket and start into the tunnel. Lights wiz all around you as you descend up a long hill. When you reach the top, you speed downward. You follow the roller coaster track as it takes you up and down, around steep turns, and even through the space station. The rocket finally stops as you get back to earth and the ride is over. This is a great roller coaster and one of the best rides at Disney. I think you should ride this because it is fun and jam-packed with thrills. 5 of 5 Stars

Stitch’s Great Escape- Here is another ride that I like. On this, you are recruited to be guards and you’re first mission is to stop a prisoner escape. You enter a round room where the escaped prisoner is identified as Stitich. He comes out and does multiple things to you including spewing you with water, bouncing on your shoulders, blasting you with a cannon, and making you smell his chili-dog burp(worst smell ever). Stitch gets out and escapes to Disney World where he invades the Castle. This show has plenty of thrills and laughs. I say ride this because it is funny and worth time. 4 of 5 Stars

Past Attractions- Grand Prix Raceway, Flight to the Moon, Mission to Mars, ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter, Star Jets, If You Had Wings, If You Could Fly, Dreamflight, Take Flight, and The Timekeeper

Other Info

Restuarants- Terrace Noodle Station, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, and The Lunching Pad

Shopping- Mickey’s Star Traders, Merchant of Venus, Racing Specialties Cart, and Ursa’s Major Minor Cart

Magic Kingdom- Mickey’s Toontown Fair

This is the fifth land of Magic Kingdom, Mickey’s Toontown Fair.

Attractions

The Barnstormer at Goofy’s Wiseacre Farm- This is the roller coaster for the kids who don’t want to get on a mountain. You enter Goofy’s farm where he has just built an airplane. You board the plane and go flying through Goofy’s farm going up and down, and even through walls. This coaster doesn’t have much thrill and last not even a minute. Skip this ride and go hop on a big-boy coaster. 2 of 5 Stars

Donald’s Boat- Here is a nice little play area for nice little kids. The playground is Donad’s Boat, The Miss Daisy, and kids can climb, jump, slide, and do everything else here. I went here a long time ago and it was boring. Don’t even think about doing this, because it is not worthy of anything. 1 1/2 of 5 Stars

Mickey and Minnie’s Houses- These are two house that belong to the famous mouses. First, is Mickey’s House that includes a den, gameroom, bedroom, Pluto’s doghouse, and a destroyed kitchen. Then, is Minnie’s house which features a living room, hallway, big kitchen, bedroom, and indoor garden. These houses are cool at a young age, but aren’t for teens. Walk right on by these houses, and the whole land, and you’ll be glad you did. 2 1/2 of 5 Stars

Past Attractions- The Disney Afternoon Avenue

Other Info

Restuarants- Toontown Market

Shopping- County Bounty, Farmer’s Market, and Mickey’s Toontown Fair Souvenirs

Magic Kingdom- Fantasyland

Here is the fourth land of the Magic Kingdom, Fantasyland.

Attractions

Cinderella’s Golden Carousel- This is just one of the rides that you can see everywhere. It’s just a regular carousel that spins you in a circle while music is playing in the background. I say skip this because it’s not that great or worth your time. 1 1/2 of 5 Stars

Dumbo the Flying Elephant- Here’s another ride that isn’t worth much. Just like the Aladdin ride, you hop into elephants and fly around in a circle while music plays. There is not much to this and gets old fast. I don’t think this ride is too good and is a skip. 1 1/2 of 5 Stars

It’s a Small World- Oh no. This is one of the rides that gets on my nerves. You board a boat and float down a river. You float through several countries while thousands of dolls are singing “It’s a Small World”. The ride itself is put together cleverly but there is one thing that gets on my nerves, and it’s this. ” It’s a world of laughs and a world of tears, it’s a world of hope and a world of fears, there’s so much that we share, that it’s time we’re aware, it’s a small world after all.”  So unless you want that anoying song stuck in your head all day, I suggest you skip this. 2 1/2 of 5 Stars

Mad Tea Party- Man, does this bring back some bad memories. On this, you hop inside a teacup that spins you around and round as music plays. You spin so fast, that you start feeling sick and want to get off. I rode this only about once or twice, and I vowed never to get on it again. I say skip this unless you feeling in the mood to throw up. 1 of 5 Stars

The Many Adventures of Winnie-The-Pooh- On this attraction, you enter a storybook that is telling the story of Winnie-the-Pooh. You board honey pots as you travel through the story. First, you go through a windy day where you are in a collapsing house. Then you meet Tigger and bounce along with him. Next, you travel into Pooh’s nightmare where you are surrounded by heffalumps and woozles. You leave the nightmare only to be caught in a storm that has caused a flood. The ride ends when all the characters sitting around a table enjoying themselves. This ride is okay, but you lose interest after age thirteen. I say if you want to ride it, but if you don’t want to, don’t. 3 of 5 Stars

Mickey’s Philharmagic- This is the best ride in the whole land. You enter an auditorium where you are about to hear a preformance from Mickey’s Philharmagic orchestra. You put on 3-D glasses as the show begins. You see Donald Duck unloading instruments and Mickey’s Sorcerer’s Hat. Donald puts on the Sorcerer’s Hat and is blown away in a wind storm. He lands in Beauty and the Beast where they preform “Be Our Guest”. Next, he is taken to The Little Mermaid where he hears “Under the Sea”. Third, he is taken to The Lion King where he is treated to “Can’t Wait to Be King”. After that, he travels into Peter Pan where he flys to “You Can Fly”. Fifth, he lands in Aladdin where he gets to hear “A Whole New World”. He finally ends up back at the Philharmagic Theatre where Mickey insults him for stealing his hat, and Donald is blasted through a wall. This is a very good show and worth seeing. I say see this show, because it is the best 3-D show there. 4 1/2 of 5 Stars

Snow White’s Scary Adventures- Not so great here. You travel in wagons through the story of Snow White. It starts off when Snow White is forced to leave and moves in with the dwarfs. It goes on to where the evil witch gets Snow White to take a bite of the poison apple. The dwarfs set off to rescue her and to get rid of the evil witch. It ends when Snow White is awakened by a Prince’s kiss. This ride is not a must-do and is just the movie in ride form. I think you can skip the ride and move on to something better. 2 1/2 of 5 Stars

Peter Pan’s Flight- This is one like Snow White that I like. You board a pirate ship, and go through the story of Peter Pan. Following Peter and the Darling children, as go fly over London to Neverland. You meet the Lost Boys and the Indian tribe. Unfortunately, you also meet Captian Hook and his pirate friends. Battles ensue when Hook kidnaps the children and you and Peter are forced to fight with Hook and the pirates. You win the battle when Hook gets chased away by a crocodile. Neverland is saved and the Darling children are returned. This ride is just the movie in ride form, but is really good. I suggest you ride this becuase it is fun and worth a few good laughs. 3 1/2 of 5 Stars

Past Attractions- Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Mickey Mouse Revue, Magic Journeys, and Legend of the Lion King

Other Info

Restuarants- Cinderella’s Royal Table, Pinocchio Village Haus, Mrs. Potts Cupboard, Enchanted Groves, and The Village Fry Shoppe

Shopping- Fantasy Faire, Tinkerbell’s Treasures, Pooh’s Thotful Shop, Seven Dwarfs Mine, and Sir Mickeys

Magic Kingdom- Liberty Square

This is the third land in the Magic Kingdom, Liberty Square.

Attractions

The Hall of Presidents- Looky here, the attraction voted best to help someone fall asleep. You enter an auditorium where animatronics of all the presidents are. They are introduced and then the current president gives a speech. You watch some boring film and then Lincoln and Washington give speeches. You then see more boring film until the show is over. This is one of my least favorite attractions. I say skip this show, but if you’re ready for a small nap, go ahead and see it. 1 of 5 Stars

The Haunted Mansion- This is the only thing that is scary that belongs to Disney. You enter a haunted mansion(duh) and meet the lead ghost. He tries to scare you and announces that the only way out is though the mansion. After getting on a “doom” buggy, you start off into the creepy mansion. You encounter spiders, voodoo people, ghosts at every corner, and four heads singing music. The ride takes you through the house and also through the outside graveyard. Screams and thrills are lurking at every corner as the ghosts try to get you to join them. You come to the end of the ride where you see that you have picked up a hitch-hiking ghost that will always be with you. This attraction is great and has a good story and setup. This ride isn’t that scary, but is one that I tell you to ride. 4 of 5 Stars

Past Attractions- Admiral Joe Fowler Riverboat and Mike Fink Keel Boats

Other Info

Restuarants- Columbia Harbour House, Liberty Square Market, Liberty Tree Tavern, and Sleepy Hollow

Shopping- Heritage House, Madma Leota’s Gypsy Wagon, and The Yankee Traders

Magic Kingdom- Frontierland

Here is the the second land in the Magic Kingdom, Frontierland.

Attractions

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad- The first and least best of the mountain attractions is this. You are getting on a train that will take you around Big Thunder Mountain, a place where people used for gold mining. You board the train as it leaves for a good ol’ tour of the mountain. The unexpected arrives when you hear an old man saying “Hold on to your hats!” and your speed down the mountain. Your train speeds though the mountian going up and down, around sharp turns, into the mines, and where ever else it wants to go. You finally slow down once the train enters a cavern, which only shows you that you’re going to the top of the mountain. When you get there, you rocket down to the bottom where the train stops. A good, mild roller coaster with no story whatsoever, makes this a great ride. This is one of my favorites and you need to ride it. 4 1/2 of 5 Stars

Splash Mountain- Here is another mountian attraction, but this is not a roller coaster. You board a log and head down a river to a little town inhabited by animals. The main focus is on Br’er Rabbit, who is leaving in search of someplace new and exciting. Then you meet Br’er Fox and Br’er Bear who are trying to catch the rabbit for a nice meal. Br’er Rabbit escapes them many times while you help him along his journey. You turn a corner and see that Br’er Fox has captured the rabbit, and you start up a dark hill. Once you see sunlight, you realize you’re 90 feet above the ground then you drop at a steep angle and end up soaked wet at the bottom of the mountain. Br’er Rabbit had escaped and returned home. This ride is one of the bests in the park, and deserves attention. You may may get really wet, but I still say ride this attraction. 4 1/2 of 5 Stars

Country Bear Jamboree- This is a show that I don’t care for in the least. You enter an auditorium where you’re about to see a preformance from the country bears. The show starts and a bunch of bears come out looking like hillbillies and singing songs you never heard before. Every bear has it own moment of fame and some moments with the other bears. This show isn’t that great and it lasts a little too long. I say skip this attraction and go hop on a mountian attraction. 1 1/2 of 5 Stars

Past Attractions- Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes

Other Info

Restuarants- Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, Westward Ho, and McDonald’s

Shopping- Big Al’s, The Briar Patch, Trail Creek Hat Shop, Praire Outpost and Supplies, Splash Court, and Frontierland Trading Post

Magic Kingdom- Adventureland

Here is the first land of the Magic Kingdom, Adventureland.

Attractions

Jungle Cruise- This is one that I don’t ride much anymore. You board a boat, that will will take you on a journey through the deep jungle. You see many animals while you are floating down the river to the voice of your skipper. Then, you journey into waters that you have no business being in. The animals start getting scarier and more dangerous. You then float into and Indian village where the Natives attack your boat, trying to kill you. You also encounter dangerous fish as boat tries to make it back in one piece. You get back and the skipper thanks you for taking the cruise (that didn’t turn out the way it should’ve.) This ride is okay for a mild thrill, but a lot of rides are better. You should ride this if you like being in the jungle or taking a cruise. 3 1/2 of 5 Stars

The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management- Here is an attraction I saw once and never saw again. You sit in an auditorium and watch the Tiki Birds sing. It is stopped by Iago, from Aladdin, telling them that the show is outdated and needs changing. Then Zazu, from The Lion King, tells Iago that the show is fine and he shouldn’t mess with it. The gods then get angry at Iago and attack the theater. Iago is attacked by the gods and returns barely alive. He leaves and the Tiki Birds, along with Zazu, sing a huppy tune and then the show is over. This is one that wasn’t that great the first time, and just got a little worse. I suggest that you skip this and move on to something fun. 2 1/2 of 5 Stars

Magic Carpets of Aladdin- This is one that I hated even before I rode it. You get into a magic carpet and you start to fly. Going around in a circle, you are able to move you carpet up and down. Then, in a minute and a half, the ride is over and you’re wondering why you rode it. A ride that doesn’t let you do anything but go around in a circle is just a waste of time. Skip this ride and go do something that is worthy of your time. 1 1/2 of 5 Stars

Pirates of the Caribbean- This attraction is one I ride anytime I get to. You get into a boat and soon fall down a drop that took you into pirate territory.  After going througha dark cavern, you see a pirates ship, ran by Captian Barbossa, and they start shooting you with cannons. You round a corner to see Davy Jones warning you about what is ahead. You enter a village that has been overtaken by pirates. Buildings are on fire, people are being killed, women are being auctioned off, people going crazy, and appearances by Captian Jack Sparrow. You also go through the jail and the armory, right before you enter the treasure room and is greeted by Captian Jack. The song “Yo Ho, Yo Ho A Pirates Life for Me”, is playing the entire ride. This attraction is one of the bests in the park and also was the inspiration for my favorite movie series, Pirates of the Caribbean. Ride this ride as much as you can, because it is terrific and makes up for the Tiki Birds and Aladdin rides. 5 of 5 Stars

Past Attractions- Tropical Serenade

Other Info

Restuarants- El Pirata Y Perico Restaurante, Sunshine Tree Terrace, and Aloha Isle

Shopping- Bwana Bob’s, Island Supply, Zanzibar Trading Company, Agrabah Bazaar, Pirates Bazaar, and The Crow’s Nest
