Nolanator Remembers: Don LaFontaine

In a World… That is how Don LaFontaine would start a trailer. LaFontaine, who was the announcer for many movie trailers, died Monday at the age of 68. Don was one of those guys that you would regonize his vioce, but not his face or name. He started out on the radio, and then got his infamous job as the “movie trailer guy.” He would work doing voiceovers all day at his house. He had voiced over 50,000 commercials and movie trailers by his death. The only commercial that let you see his face was a Geico commercial(below) from last year. Since he has done such great work, he will be inducted as the fifth member of the V.I.P. Gold Club. LaFontaine, and his amazing voice, will be missed and movie trailers will never be the same, R.I.P. Don LaFontaine 1940-2008

Nolanator Remembers: Bernie Mac

“The world just got a little less funny.” That was George Clooney after hearing the news of the death of his Ocean’s co-star, Bernie Mac. The actor/comedian died on Satuday at the age of 50. He died from losing a battle with pneumonia in a hospital in Chicago. Bernie Mac was a very funny guy and made some great movies. This news was shocking to the comedy world, becuase Bernie was one of the best. He is yet another big celebrity who died this year and follows Heath Ledger, George Carlin and more. He had just finished three movies before his tragic death. Since he was such a great guy, I am inducting him into the V.I.P. Gold Club. He will be the fourth member to the club. He was a great man and this is truely a sad day. May his family be prayed for and Hollywood to never forget him. From The Great Movie Domain, Rest In Peace Mr. Mac. Bernie Mac 1957-2008
